Welcome to Teach's Lookout!

Some beach houses are all about what's inside—at Teach's Lookout, you'll want to spend just as much time outdoors. Set just across the street from the beach in North Topsail Beach, this charming coastal cottage pairs easy beach access with an incredible collection of outdoor spaces designed for soaking up the views.

The expansive tiered deck is the star of the show, offering plenty of room to spread out, dine outdoors, relax in the sun, or settle into the shade with the ocean in view. Head all the way up to the crow's nest sun deck for an even higher vantage point overlooking the coastline. It's a favorite spot for morning coffee, catching the sunrise, or winding down as the sky changes color in the evening.

When you're ready for the beach, public access is conveniently located just across the quiet street, making it easy to come and go throughout the day. Back at the house, rinse off in the enclosed outdoor shower before heading upstairs—or skip straight to the hot tub for a relaxing soak after a day on the sand.
Inside, Teach's Lookout keeps things comfortable and casual with the character of a classic Topsail beach cottage. The open living, dining, and kitchen areas create an inviting place to reconnect between adventures, while abundant windows bring in natural light and keep those coastal views close.

The outdoor spaces continue beyond the main deck with a covered bar area, elevated picnic table for meals together, and a ground-level covered patio. Fishing enthusiasts will also appreciate the dedicated fish-cleaning station with built-in cutting boards for preparing the day's catch.

Best of all, dogs are welcome, and the gated deck areas provide additional outdoor space for your four-legged family members to enjoy alongside you.

We enjoyed our time at Teach’s Lookout. Five of us two dogs stayed for two weeks in June, and the beach was consistently used by nearby houses but not crowded. The view was even better than anticipated, and the gates on the deck made it so easy to sit out with the dogs without worrying about what they might get into. We could always find shade or sun, depending on our moods and the temp. The crow’s nest deck was fun to use and provided a broader view for early morning coffee and late-night beverages.The access point was so convenient, and this section of the beach was very clean and quiet. We always stay oceanside, but this spot just across the street was just as nice.We used the hot tub quite a bit — it was a perfect activity when we didn’t have the time to take our stuff to the sand across the street. The house had nearly everything we needed, and the living room area was very comfortable. The outside shower was great, and the laundry room was very neatly kept.We used Andrew’s Produce quite a bit during this stay, given how close it is! Fresh fruits, veggies, pies, and some jams that we bought as souvenirs to bring home for family and friends.This is a classic beach house, which we love. Well-kept, smaller, more vintage houses are getting harder and harder to find. We are grateful this one was shared with us for a few weeks.

We really enjoyed our stay!!! The beach view, the amazing deck, the hot tub were all awesome! Some things we would have appreciated would have been a few more trash bags and dishwasher packs. We also could not find any pot holders. We really appreciated the number of towels available and variety of kitchen dishes and implements. Overall it was a great stay and we would definitely book with you again!!!

This was our second stay at Teach’s Lookout and as with the first it was a perfect getaway vacation. The house was clean and comfortable. The views from the decks were amazing and we love the fact that our dog could enjoy the stay as well. Perfect!

We had an amazing week during our stay! We were excited to bring our dog to this pet friendly location on his first beach trip! He is an official beach bum. The location and proximity to the beach was perfect. The home was comfortable and easy to relax even with our fur baby. The deck had gates to ensure the dog could not easily run off if they slipped out the door. Ammenities were as described and everything about our stay was relaxing and stress free. We would absolutley stay here again! THANK YOU for having us and we look forward to coming back!

We stayed at Teach's place the same time last year, and thats why we returned. The location was prime for seeing both the sunrise as well as the sunset. All of the deck area and hot tub made it even better. Other than a couple snaffoos, it was a perfect vacation, and we plan on coming back again!

A treasure of a property. Beach access so convenient. The decks and outlook are superb. Small and quaint, and a great beach feeling all around if you are a beach pirate.

Giving it 4 stars because we kept getting whiffs of dog urine (we did not have our dog with us) While this is a pet friendly unit, the rugs should be shampooed often to avoid this. Other than that, the location was great with an amazing view! It’s minutes away from restaurants and things to do. The neighborhood is quiet and relaxing in the hot tub with a view of the ocean is unmatched. The urine odor is my only complaint.

Beautiful views of the ocean from right across the street which is really much closer than it appeared in the pictures on the website. The wrap around decks surrounding the house and the upper 3rd story deck were all amazing. And there were gates that closed allowing our dog the ability to wander freely in those spaces. The hot tub was so relaxing! We would definitely return to this home again.

Fantastic find

The house was amazing. Just as advertised. Views were fantastic. We had one fantastic sunset due to cloudiness. Some nights were a bit chilly but the hot tub made up for it. We were presented with falling stars one night, a beautiful rainbow over the ocean another day. Even caught glimps of dolphins. Day trip to Wilmington. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Also a lovely hike over the intercostal waterway bridge. A fantastic week to start 2025. Could become our New Years tradition. One warning though. If you have a fur baby the yard is true to being a beach yard with sand spurs. Ours picked a couple in his paws but was easily removed. 10 stars from us.

This beautiful little home is perfect for getting away to do a lot of nothing but basking in the slowness of Topsail Island. First of all, North Topsail Beach is quiet and friendly. We were steps from the beach. You can walk or bike on the quiet road that roads behind the home. We spent so much time on the porch and levels of decks. The views are spectacular. We have been to other Carolina beaches. This one is much less crowded. We spent the week as a family enjoying each other's company but could easily move to an area (porch, deck, bedroom) to be alone for a bit. The kitchen has what you will need for simple meals. It is an older property but has new windows and flouring. There is a new water heater. The AC was great.

We loved the house and the location. The deck area and outdoor living space was amazing. We had such a great time and will always love the location and the memories made there. The only reason I took away a star was because the beds were not that comfortable and the master bedroom also stayed way warmer than the other rooms. The bunk room would be ice cold while the master was warm. We tried variations of keeping the bedroom doors open or closed and couldn’t quite get the temperature right to stay cool at night in the master. The house is so cute though and the decor was great as well. We had plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, etc provided. We wouldn’t change a thing except to have been a little more comfortable while sleeping.

This is our second time at Teachs Lookout and it lived up to expectations. So close to the beach and a superb deck to sit and watch the waves. There are just the two of us and our dog and Teachs is the perfect size for us offering everything we needed for a relaxing vacation.

Perfect Cozy Cottage on the Water

We loved everything about this house! The location is perfect for a quiet family vacation in Topsail Beach. The kids loved being so close to the water and beach to play everyday. We loved watching the dolphins right from the deck, sunrises were amazing, and the house was just right for our family of 5. Having on site laundry was a HUGE bonus for a beach vacation stay. The house was immaculate when we arrived, and the check in process was a breeze.

This house was beyond perfect! Cozy, amazing views, creature comforts like a full functioning kitchen and on site laundry (perfect when so close to the beach!). We loved our early morning sunrise coffee on the deck watching the dolphins. The kids couldn't get enough beach time, regardless of the time of day. We even enjoyed attempting a family 1000pc puzzle during our stay. We would come back anytime!

We had a great experience with Vacasa and Teachs lookout. Having the ability to text with Vacasa and getting prompt responses was great. The house was perfect for the three of us plus our golden retriever. The deck was amazing and the hot tub was perfect after a day on the beach. I would highly recommend!

We had 3 kids under 8 and an Infant and this home was perfect for our family size ❤️ we absolutely loved the views and watching the sunset ans rise from our top deck! Super property for a couple and a dog

This property was perfect for us. Excellent situation close to beach and wonderful views of the ocean. Well equipped with everything we needed, more than was expected after reading information. Huge deck with gates to stairs which meant we could allow our dog to lie outside and not worry. The hot tube was wonderful, perfect temperature, fairly private and good views. Loved the tall chairs, perfect for relaxing and watching the world go by. Superb place to relax and unwind.

We absolutely loved our time at North Topsail Beach. The house was clean, perfect size, and had great amenities including easy beach access, a hot tub, and a very large deck. We enjoyed every minute. It was the perfect oasis for our beach getaway!
